Imprisoned Poets

A view of the stone built frontage and main gate of New Prison, with several chained figures standing in front, and a further figure holding a gun. A small door, in a large arched doorway is open, and a small figure can be seen peering out.

The vast majority of laboring-class poets had few or no issues with the law, but there was a small group who were imprisoned at different times throughout their lives.
